Eat, pray, love and peace

Yesterday night I watched the movie “Eat Pray Love”. It was an extremely adventure with the amazing actress Julia Robert. Liz (Julia Robert) had a boring, busy and sad life in New York City. She believed that there is more to challenge her life than a husband, house and career. She talked with God, physiologists and with herself. She did not feel self-esteem. One day, she found that she should change her life. She fails hunger for new feelings and new tips of food. She got divorced and she got in a journey for one year. First, she traveled to Italy, where she learned their culture and language. Also, she made some friends there. However, what she loved the most in Italy was their delicious food. Second, she went to India where she got scared and crazy, but she learned about meditation, relaxing and to eat less. After that, she went to Bali that she started to discover about herself. Finally, she found her love who was a handsome Brazilian man. He gave to her everything that she was looking for her life eat, pray, love and peace. I learned from the movie that we never have to be afraid of changes.

Black Friday

On Friday and Saturday were my Black Friday`s day. It is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Especially popular in the United States, the event is spreading to other nations such as Canada and Australia. On this day, many retailers open very early, often at 4 a.m., or earlier, and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season. The day's name originated in Philadelphia, where it originally was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving. The “Black Friday" indicates the period during which retailers are turning a profit, or "in the black."However, it was a very nice shopping days for me and it was not a black day. I went to the mall in the afternoon and I found many good sales. I loved it. I bought fitness` clothes, bouts, jackets and some Christmas` presents to my friends and family. On Friday, I was shopping alone that was a little boring, but on Saturday I went with my mom and we had so much fun. In addition, I passed to say hello to my best friend Isabel and my sister Monique who work in a Christmas` store in the mall. I love Black Friday.

Thanksgiving!!!

What are you thankful for this year?
Happy Thanksgiving! Here I am, celebrating my second Thanksgiving Day.
I am thankful to be with my family this special day.
Thanksgiving is a day when we traditionally count the blessings in our lives.
Thanksgiving has come a long way since the time of the Pilgrims and Indians. Today, it was an opportunity to get my family together to watch football and feast on turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and pumpkin pie. Sure, I know that they will be thankful when their favorite team wins the big game. However, I really took my time to verbalize my gratitude for bigger things that I have. I told my loved ones how much they mean to me. This Thanksgiving I learned some funny ways to give thanks. I sent a message of”Happy Thanksgiving” to my friends. Before dinner, I asked everyone what they are most Thankful for this Thanksgiving. They had many different answers. I wrote down: “I am blessed to eat such a wonderful meal with those I love and appreciate most in this world.” I created a family journal with pictures that will be brought out every Thanksgiving. Each family member wrote things that they are thankful for throughout this year. The food and desserts were delicious. I helped to clean all of the Thanksgiving pots, pans and dinnerware after dinner without having to be asked or told, especially because I did not cooked. The simple act of saying “thank you,” no matter which way you choose to say these two special words, can really make the difference in someone’s life and will help keep me grounded.

7 new words

In this writing, you will read a briefly story about my life in school.
I have had many idealistic teachers and coaches during my middle school, high school and college. My teachers and coaches believe in principles and high standards, even if they cannot be achieved in real life. They always encourage me physically and mentally in my study and in my practice. They believe in my capacity to achieve my goals. I learned from them that every dream can become truth. However, first I must believe in myself and second I have to work hard. Therefore, I will never give up and I will fight for everything I want. My teachers, friends and coaches inspire me in many ways in school, even though my family is the biggest inspiration in my life. Sometimes, some of my friends from my class and from volleyball have to fight for integration in school. The NCC volleyball team integrated me in their volleyball team. I am an integrant of the LINC program. Unfortunately, in school there are a lot of opponents of integration that often greet their opponent with offence and violence. Eventually, in school I would like to be called “survivor” because I will escape of my Placement test.

Final game

At the NJCAA national championship, held in Rochester, Minnesota, the final two teams competing for the title were Ridgewater from Minnesota and Brookhaven from Texas. Because Brookhaven had back to back wins in the national championship, they thought they could take the nationals this year easily. These two teams played hard to get to the final match, each team was exceptionally talented. Brookhaven had Ridgwater with a height advantage, with front row blockers over six feet tall.
When it came time to play, both teams were on their toes ready to play with excitement. While warming up, many players stood out with their display of talent. On Ridgewater, I was impresses by an outside sophomore who had incredible ups for her height and a very powerful hit. Every player had a great deal of talent. Brookhaven underestimated the smart defense the Ridgewater had. Going to five games, each game was extremely close; every point seemed like the winning point for each team. In the final game to 15, every point was crucial. Ridgewater was losing 7-1 in the final game, but at one point they found a way to dig themselves out of the hole and push one point at a time to take the lead. Winning by two points, Ridgewater finally beat Brookhaven and were named the national champions of 2010.
With hard work and determination anything is possible. Ridgewater, the underdog team, sent home the number one ranked team with the will they had to win. The title of national champions was well deserved by Ridgewater.

Long day!!!

It was Sunday morning, the National finished, so it was time to go home. My volleyball team, parents and I went to the Minnesota airport to take our flight to Chicago. However, the plane`s wing was damaged, so we had to wait for hours until the next flight that  was going to be at 1:30 Pm.  The Minnesota airport is very small and it did not have anything to do there. I read a magazine and a book. I had fever and cold. However, finally we took our first flight to Chicago. The problem was that our flight from Chicago to New York was 12:30, so we lost it. Therefore, we had to separate everyone in two groups to flight. The first flight was 3:30pm and another one was 4:30pm. The first group got in Chicago airport almost 3:30, so they have to run to did not lose their flight and another group just had to wait a little more. After that, everyone got in the LaGuardia airport almost 8 Pm and we had to wait a van to go to NCC. We got in school by 9:00 pm. Finally, I got home after 9 at night and I was so exhausted.

Games

Even though on Friday it was snowing and so cold here in Minnesota we played very good. We could play better, but everyone was so nervous and excited. The Nationals` teams are really good players. However, on Saturday we played better than Friday. Therefore, we got in 4 place from 8 teams in the Nationals and 68 in the total. We worked hard and we did our job. I really appreciated how much everyone tried to make a point in every single ball. This experience was awesome.
Now I just can not wait to come back home. I feel that I am here for ever. I m missing everyone and everything. Tomorrow we until have to take two flights to Chicago and New Yourk, a van to get at school and a car to finally I got home.

Minnesota

On Wednesday morning all my volleyball team and I met at school and we took a van to the Laguardia aiport. After that, we took our first flight to Chicago. We got in Chicago and we had lunch in the aiport. We had to wait for four hours because our flight was late. Better late than never, we got on our second flight to Minnesota. I was so scared in the second flight. It had a lot of turbulences and noises. But everyone got in Minnesota save. After that, we had to take a van to the hotel, but it did not have space for everyone and for our baggades. So we had to do two trips. Finally, we got in the hotel very late at night. Everyone was so tired. The hotel is amazing. There are so many things in the hotel, such as stores, restaurantes, pools, saunas, and a gym. The only thing that I hated was that I was so sick.

I need many volleyball stuffs: warm up top and bottom, knee pads, sneakers, grey shirt with logo on back, Nassau socks, grey shirt with Nassau Volleyball, a new blue champions t-shirt, white and orange uniform banquet t-shirt, and one nice outfit for banquet. Maybe I will need a nice jeans outfit for our Thursday and Saturday downtime. I will bring my pink pajama, toiletries, and essentials. We are all wearing our sweats to the airport. In conclusion, I have to pack light. I don’t know how.

National

I am crazy exciting to go to the National. On Wednesday morning, my NCC volleyball team and I are going to take a plane to Minnesota. We are going to play and win the National Volleyball Tournament this week. We will stay in the Hilton Garden Hotel in Rochester for five days. First day, Wednesday afternoon we will have volleyball practices. Second day, Thursday because it is Veteran’s Day, a holyday we are going to shopping in the biggest mall in the United States. Also Thursday night we will have a tournament Banquet. Finally, Friday and Saturday we will play against the eight best teams in the United State. On Sunday I believe we will come back with the Trophy and the gold medals.

Weekend

On Friday, my volleyball team and I went to Queens College to play a scrimmage against of them.
It was a very good practice before we go to the National. In addition, Friday night I went to the theater to watch Mega mind. It is a funny and crazy movie.
On Saturday I read my book while I was riding a bicycle in the gym. In the afternoon I went to a kid birthday party. It was so much fun and the food and cake were delicious.  Kids and adults played a chair game while we were listening kiddy`s music.
On Sunday morning I went to run outside while I was listening music. It was so cold outside. After that I went to shopping. In the afternoon I read the News online and I wrote in my blog. Now, I m going  to surf and study on the Internet.

New York City Marathon

The New York Marathon is going to be on November 05, 2010. It will beginning in the Central Park at 8 Am.  The temperature is going to be 33 degrees, so it is going to be cold. Unfortunately, I am not going to participate of this amazing event this year officially. I did not have time to prepare myself to run more than 26 miles. Running a Marathon is really a challenge. First you have to training a lot. Second you must participate of ten New York Road Runners races during a year. Finally, you should be really prepare physically and mentally to do it. I cannot believe that I did all it last years. It was one of the most difficult challenges that I have had. However, it was one the best things that I did in my life. Some people say: “If you ran a Marathon there is nothing in the World that you cannot do”.
